How to diagnose Jaundice ..?

CT scanning is an invaluable tool in the investigation of the jaundiced patient. The dilated bile ducts are clearly visible in a CT scan of a patient with extrahepatic obstructive jaundice due to carcinoma of the head of the pancreas

Thanks for the info but I think the title should be "how to investigate jaundice" or "Ct role in jaundice".

Actually, it depends on our clinical suspicion. If we suspect pancreatic cancer, we have to go for CT anyway. But if we suspect biliary tract stone causing the jaundice, we have to go for abdominal ultrasound as the first step, not to CT scan.
