If u r allergic to one of the Sulfonamides & their derivatives, it's a bad luck. Cross-allergy coexist & There are many drug in this group that u can't use………
allergic reactions are variant and range from mild rash to anaphylaxis and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Examples of Sulfa drugs:-
-Sulfonamide Antibiotics: usually used in combination with other agents. e.g. Sulfamethoxasole, Sulfadiazine, Sulfadoxine, Dapson……..
- Sulfonylurea hypoglycemic drugs
- Sulfasalazine (used to treat IBD)
- Thiazide Diuretics
- Loop diuretics (e.g. Furosemide, Bumetanide, but not ethacrynic acid)
- Acetazolamide: many uses, One of them is Glaucoma
- Celecoxib: COX2 inhibitor
- Zonisamide: a new anti epilepsy agent
- Diazoxide
