a 4month old infant presents with failure to thrive ,progressive muscular weakness and poor head control .on questioning the mother states that she typically feeds the baby soy based formula sweetened with honey .which organism responsible for the child's presentation???

Honey should not be introduced in infants feeding till the age of 1 year .

it may include spores of clostridium Botulinum

these spores germinate in large intestine and release toxin which is sloweky absorbed.

This toxin blocks acetylcholine release leading to Constipation, Flaccid Paralysis,( Floppy baby Syndrom)

Infant Botulism has good prognosis with supportive therapy
