Trigeminal neuralgia (iic douloureux) is characterized by recurrent paroxysm of sharp , stabbing pain in one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve on one side of the face .
It usually occurs in people older than 50 years of age , and it is more common in women than in men
Carbamazepine is the drug of choice for idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia

The history of multiple sclerosis is important in Trigeminal neuralgia because it is relatively common in this group of patients.

the comparison in the effectiveness between surgery and medication is unclear.In this case,u will go with the "less invasive" ,so medication first ,,,then in cases of medication resistance ,u would go w surgery .
