Greenstick fracture

"greenstick fracture" means that one side of the fracture has broken and one side is bent; therefore it is classified as an incomplete break
it occurs in children since they have soft bone tissue that tends to bend rather than breaking

Nightstick fracture

A fracture of the shaft of ulna. Named because of the injury that results when attempting to block the downward blow of a nightstick with the raised forearm.

Distal Radius Fractures : Wrist fracture

1.colle's fracture

a fracture of the distal radius bone
when falling on an extended wrist
The distal fracture fragment is displaced dorsally

2.reverse Colles' fracture= smith fracture

a fx of distal radius bone
when falling on a flexed wrist
The distal fracture fragment is displaced volarly (ventrally)

3.Barton's fracture

intra-articular fx of the distal radius with dislocation of the radiocarpal joint
when falling on an extended and pronated wrist increasing carpal compression force on the dorsal rim.

Carpal displacement distinguishes this fracture from a Smith's or a Colles' fracture.

4.Chauffeur's fracture=backfire fracture

radius styloid process fracture
caused by compression of the scaphoid against the styloid.

5.Die-punch fracture

a depression fracture of the lunate fossa of the distal radius.
It is the result of a transverse load through the lunate.
