wat will the surgeon pass through while operating on left and right kidney ?

the aim is to know if the student is aware that left kidney is crossed by rib 11 , 12 while right by only 12

why is it important to know this ?

if the surgeon mistake the pt's twelfth rib for his eleventh he will incise too high or might end up opening the pleura.

then wat are the pleural rib landmarks ?

another one is to remember the order from front backward

renal vein , ureter , renal artery
