Blackfan - Diamond Anemia

How do we treat it?

It says in Blueprints that corticosteroids are sometimes administered.
What's they're mechanism??

the etiology isn't clear.....there is gene mutation in 19th chromosome.... it leads to anemia due to a defect in erythroid progenitor cells...wich causes of inability of precursor cells to successfully undergo erythroid differentiation and/or proliferation...

the mechanism of steroids is unknown....but studies showed a response to steroides and/or blood transfusion....
