![]() What is BNP ?
A.M - الخميس, 2008-07-24 01:34 |
المعلومةBNP levels are higher in patients with dyspnea (shortness of breath) due to heart failure than in patients with dyspnea from other causes. Rapid measurement of BNP in the emergency department therefore helps in the evaluation and treatment of patients with acute dyspnea and reduces the time to discharge and the cost of their treatment. BNP appears to be a useful marker of cardiovascular risk, even in people with no clinical evidence of cardiovascular disease. The levels of BNP predict the risk of heart failure, first cardiovascular events, atrial fibrillation, and stroke or transient ischemic attack. المرجع |

I have never heard about it !!!
there is BNP (Brain Natriutic Peptide)
and ANP (Atrial natriutic Peptide)
see that
BNP is a 32-amino acid polypeptide containing a 17-amino acid ring structure common to all natriuretic peptides. Unlike ANP, whose major storage sites are in both the atria and ventricles, the major source of plasma BNP is the cardiac ventricles, suggesting that BNP may be a more sensitive and specific indicator of ventricular disorders than other natriuretic peptides. The release of BNP appears to be in direct proportion to ventricular volume expansion and pressure overload. BNP is an independent predictor of high LV end-diastolic pressure and is more useful than ANP or NE levels for assessing mortality risk in patients with CHF.
and i think that ANP exsistes in Syria
and BNP exsistes too cos it is simple and important
